Better With is the snack brand of Veracruz Almonds, which grows the almonds itself on its own farms in Fundão and Idanha-a-Nova, in the Beira Interior. Hot days and cold nights there are what give the almond its sweetness.
In November 2024 Veracruz became the first almond producer in the world to be Certified Regenerative by A Greener World. That certification is worth a sentence, because it is not a logo you buy: it audits soil, water, biodiversity, animal welfare and the treatment of the people working the land, and it asks for a plan that improves year on year rather than a snapshot. They also hold the Gold level of the Farm Sustainability Assessment, the first almond producer in Europe to reach it.
In the groves it means permanent ground cover between the rows so the soil is never bare, prunings shredded back into the ground instead of burned, irrigation metered sector by sector, and dams built to hold their own water.
Nothing leaves the company along the way. The almonds are harvested, stored, roasted and packed in their own facilities in Castelo Branco, and every pack carries a code that traces back to the grove and the harvest date.
