Quinta Mourisca has been producing at Agrobom, in the municipality of Alfândega da Fé, since 2000. The village takes its name from the known fertility of its fields, campo bom, and sits in the Terra Quente of Trás-os-Montes.
The olives are all regional varieties: cobrançosa, madural, verdeal and negrinha do freixo. The groves are rain-fed and worked without irrigation, without pesticides and without synthetic fertiliser. What feeds them instead is the farm's own flock of Churra Badana sheep, a Trás-os-Montes breed, which graze through the olive groves and manure them as they go. Production is certified organic under control body PT-BIO-03, which is Kiwa Portugal.
Everything is cold extracted and bottled in small numbered lots, between 300 and 1,500 litres, each carrying its harvest month. The Altitude oil is picked above 800 metres. The Madural is a single variety picked green. Terras de Agrobom is made with their own olives together with those of neighbouring producers.
The farm is not only olive oil. It also produces charcuterie from Bísaro pigs raised outdoors, fruit vinegars, organic quince paste and seasonal products. There is a shop in Porto on Rua Costa e Almeida.
